As you may have noticed, our family loves two things-savory pies, and Mexican food. So, why not indulge in taco pie as often as possible? It’s delicious whether you use turkey or beef. It’s also fun to experiment with different types of salsa, chips, and cheese. Your entire family will LOVE this meal…and if you’re lucky enough to be the cook, you’re guaranteed to be smothered with big hugs!
1 ¼ lbs. Extra Lean Ground Turkey or Beef
1 Package Taco Seasoning
½ Cup Water
½ Cup Chunky Salsa
1 (8 oz.) Can Crescent Dinner Rolls
1 Cup Corn Chips, crushed
1 (8 oz.) Carton Low Fat Sour Cream
Grated Cheddar (Mild or Sharp) Cheese
Shredded Lettuce, Diced Tomatoes, and Black Olives (optional)
Preheat oven to 375°. Brown meat. Drain. Add seasoning, water, and salsa. Simmer 5 minutes. Spread dough into a 10 inch pie pan to form crust. Press edges together at seams. Sprinkle corn chips on crust. Spoon meat mixture over chips. Spread sour cream over meat. Cover with cheese. Bake for 20 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Serve with lettuce, tomatoes, and olives if desired.
